چکیده

The piezoelectric ceramic sensor was fixed on Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) composite civil materials, using the external paste method for damage detection test. effect of depth and number cracks surface GFRP specimen signal received by studied. time-domain graph energy based wavelet packet were drawn, combining active induction packet. It is found that greater degree specimens, smaller voltage value signal, index results showed can be used to collect data specimens sensor. collected are processed principle maximum specimen, packet, all accurately judge change specimens. detect in real time. provides an effective analysis materials.

Design of a piezoelectric-based structural health monitoring system for damage detection in composite materials

Cost-effective and reliable damage detection is critical for the utilization of composite materials. This paper presents the conclusions of an experimental and analytical survey of candidate methods for in-situ damage detection in composite structures. Experimental results are presented for the application of modal analysis and Lamb wave techniques to quasi-isotropic graphite/epoxy test specime...

Structural Health Monitoring of Composite Materials Using Piezoelectric Sensors

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) denotes a system with the ability to detect and interpret adverse " changes " in a structure in order to improve reliability and reduce life-cycle costs. The greatest challenge in designing a SHM system is knowing what " changes " to look for and how to identify them. This paper focuses on the relationship between sensing systems and their ability to detect ch...

Modeling of Hygrothermal Damage of Composite Materials

Composite materials have been used extensively in various applications, such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and aviation thanks to their interesting mechanical properties. However, a substantial drawback in the use of such composite materials is that they absorb a significant amount of moisture when exposed to severe hygrothermal conditions. This factor dramatically affects t...

Multi-mode Damage Detection Methods with Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors

PWAS are small and non-invasive transducers that can be easily affixed to a structure to interrogate it at will. Their wideband non-resonant properties make them advantageous candidates for multiple modes structural health monitoring (SHM) and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) simply by changing the driving frequencies. This paper presents research results obtained by using PWAS transducer for SH...

Corrosion Damage Detection with Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors

Since today’s aging fleet is now intended to far exceed their proposed design life, monitoring the structural integrity of those aircraft has become a priority issue for today’s Air Force. One of the most critical structural problems is corrosion. In fact the KC-135 now costs $1.2 billion a year to repair corrosion. In this paper, we plan to show the use of Lamb waves to detect material loss in...
